Diet is one of the best ways to curb your Type 2 diabetes symptomshere are a few suggestions to get the ball rolling.
Cut Your Salt: Salt is terrible for you in large quantities, not just for your diabetes but for your overall health. Cholesterol and heart function will thank you when you lower your salt intake – watch foods like bread and soup.
Watch Your Sugar: Everyone knows diabetics can’t eat cotton candy but sugar could be hiding in unlikely sources. Canned soup, frozen meals and even deli meat can have hidden sugars so carefully manage your intake to control your insulin levels.
Cut Back on Fat: Less fat makes your body happier – the less extra weight you’re carrying around the better your diabetes will be. Fat from oil and butter are obvious culprits but cutting back on dairy and meat is also a great way to change your habits.

Diabetes can really take a toll on a person’s life. With the help of a portable blood sugar monitor, people can now control there blood sugar levels at home. You can take these monitors with you wherever you may go. It doesn’t necessarily have to be done at home. When you go out to eat, and out for an event, you should always have your monitor with you, because you never know what can go wrong.
Blood sugar monitors lets you know where your blood sugar stands. After you eat and before you eat, are the two best times to monitor your blood sugar level. Sometimes these monitors can be paid through with most of your medical insurance. It all depends on the type of insurance you have. You can talk to your doctor about getting one. There is nothing better than being able to control your own blood sugar, and not having to run back and forth to the doctor. It is highly recommended that people with diabetes, invest in a monitor anyhow. When you wake up in the morning, and before you go to bed at night, you can use your monitor to make sure that everything’s fine.

There is no denying that being a diabetic requires that much more thought be put into the foods you eat. Many find that a large part of their day is spent tracking calories and sugar. There are several tools online that can help diabetics reduce the amount of time they spend tracking these.

Dieter’s tools are offered online, and many are free. Calorie counting sites allow users to enter specific foods, and track the calories and nutritional information of each online. These tools can easily be applied to a diabetic diet, and are a fast way to track calories and sugar numbers for the day.I found some more information here. Since these tools do the math for you, you can put the calculator, or pen and notebook away.

Most pre-packaged foods contain clear nutritional information on the package. However, for non-packed foods, you can look up the calorie and sugar content online. Additionally, there are plenty of pocket guides that will help you stay on top of these numbers while you are on the go.

Being diabetic will always mean that you must know the numbers. However, it no longer means that you have to spend hours of your day tracking the numbers and making sure that you are within safe levels. Tracking tools online, and pocket nutrition guides can help.
